Why we’re here

In 1835, God lead Christians in the Martinsville area to establish a place where they could meet and worship the Lord being true to the pattern outlined in the scriptures. This was the beginning of Liberty Christian Church. 

This body of believers known as Liberty Christian Church desires to follow the holy scriptures and fulfill their calling of the Lord God to be His disciples. The scriptures to this day give us a clear understanding of how to accomplish this calling. 

In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus tells all Christians to disciple (evangelize), baptize, and train to maturity those who believe. This is the heart of all the ministries of Liberty Christian Church. In Acts 2:42, we learn that Christians are to devote themselves to the apostles teaching in the scriptures, to meet together regularly and encourage, challenge and mature those who desire to follow Christ with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. We are in prayer continually by following the example Jesus left for us in Matthew 6:9-13. To know that God is holy and cares for us; He will provide for us; He forgives us to also forgive others; and He is our guide and protector.
